Session 2: The Real McKenzies
We sat down with some of this year’s PRB artists and asked them a whole slew of random shit for our new blog, “Casualties of Conversation”. Todays edition features our rowdy and rebellious Canadian brothers, The Real McKenzies who will be appearing on the Las Vegas festival stage on Sunday, May 28, 2017.
What's the funniest or worst thing someone has called or said about you/your band?
Someone once said that if our sound could be described as a smell it would smell like somebody shit and puked in the same bucket.
Most embarrassing moment on stage?
When Paul got married on stage in Revelstoke while Bone showed his butthole to the crowd, Dirty Kurt had fallen down clutching his chest(he had just had open heart surgery after a heart attack)and McNasty and I were puking side stage from a flu. The crowd loved it.
Favorite song to sing-along to, as long as no one is listening?
Ian Dury, Hit Me With Your Rhythm Stick.
What bands are you looking forward to playing with or seeing at PRB?
Iggy Pop, The Dickies, FIDLAR, Wolfpack, The Addicts...looking forward to surprises. Although we're on tour so we won't get to see anybody.
If you could resurrect one musician/band to have a jam session or party with, who would it be?
Does you/your band have a pre or post show ritual?
Some beers. Some vodka. Maybe a poop.
Is there anything you can't live without while touring?
Some beers. Some vodka.
Do you have any secret talents or unique hobbies?
Anyone one of us at any given moment can recite all of the frozen lakes in northern Saskatchewan.
Which band member gets picked on the most?
Nobody anymore. The last guy to be a bully in this band was fired at the airport.
How do you feel about the word "moist"?
Favorite punk rock movie, biography or book?
Hard Core Logo
What is your spirit animal or if you were an animated character, who would you be?
If you believe in guilty pleasures, what's yours?
What is the best show you've ever attended?
Recently saw Juliette Lewis. She was rad.
Advice for young musicians or people in general?
Advice is something we don't give.
Q: What do you call a dinosaur with no eyes? A: Shut up.
Two words that you would use to describe you/your band's sound?
Drunk and Disorderly
Favorite city to perform in and why?
Berlin. It's our second home, where we got our start in EU.
